TEHRAN: Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, alleged on Wednesday that the United States is “directing” the relentless and brutal Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip since October 7.
Speaking during a speech in Tehran, Khamenei criticized the US, stating that America was a “definite accomplice of criminals” and that the hands of Americans were stained with the blood of the oppressed Palestinians, including children, patients, and women in Gaza.
The Gaza health ministry reported a devastating toll on Wednesday, stating that more than 6,545 Palestinians, including 2,704 children, have been martyred in Gaza since the conflict broke out. Khamenei’s remarks reflected the growing global concern over the escalating violence and its impact on innocent lives.
The United States has recently taken actions that have further intensified tensions in the region. The US had deployed two aircraft carriers to the eastern Mediterranean in support of Israel, which has launched a brutal military campaign against innocent Palestinians. The US has also confirmed sending “a few” military advisers to Israel, underscoring its unwavering support for its close ally in the region.
Khamenei’s statement also carried a strong message of solidarity with the Palestinian cause. He emphasized that the Palestinian nation would emerge victorious in this struggle and asserted that the future world belonged to Palestine, not the Zionist regime, referring to Israel.
On Tuesday, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Iran that the United States would respond “decisively” to any attacks by Tehran.
