TEHRAN, Iran: Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) vowed on Sunday to target Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States continues to escalate.
Iranian officials warned that Netanyahu would be held accountable for the ongoing military campaign, signaling a further intensification of tensions in the Middle East.
Iranian military leaders said their response would continue until what they described as aggression against Iran comes to an end, raising concerns about a wider regional escalation.
“If this child-killing criminal is alive, we will continue to pursue and kill him with full force,” said the Guards on their website Sepah News.
Iran warns countries not to act
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called on the international community to avoid actions that could further escalate the ongoing conflict.
During a phone conversation with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, Araghchi urged countries to exercise restraint and refrain from steps that could widen the scope of the conflict.
He stressed the importance of preventing further escalation and avoiding actions that could expand the war in the region, according to a statement from Iran’s foreign ministry.
UK calls for de-escalation
Meanwhile, A British minister on Sunday stressed the need to ease tensions in the Middle East after Donald Trump called on other countries to help safeguard global oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to the BBC, UK Energy Security Minister Ed Miliband said the immediate priority should be to calm tensions in the region.
He added that the focus now must be on de-escalating the conflict and preventing further instability that could disrupt vital global energy supplies.
Iran arrests suspects linked to Israel
Iranian authorities have arrested at least 20 people in the northwestern province of West Azerbaijan on suspicion of cooperating with Israel, according to Iranian media reports.
Authorities have also carried out a series of nationwide raids in recent days, detaining hundreds of individuals suspected of collaborating with Israel and the United States, the reports said.
The arrests are part of a broader security crackdown amid escalating tensions and ongoing conflict in the region.
