KAZAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Wednesday urged BRICS member states to use their collective influence to help “end the war” in Gaza and Lebanon.
Speaking at the BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, Pezeshkian stressed the importance of global cooperation in stopping “the most cruel and painful” conflicts involving Israel and regional groups.
“I call on all members of the influential BRICS group to use all their collective and individual capacities to end the war in Gaza and Lebanon,” Pezeshkian said in his address.
His plea comes amid intensified Iranian diplomatic efforts to push for ceasefires in both conflict zones, where fighting between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, and Hezbollah in Lebanon, has escalated in recent weeks.

Iran, which formally joined the BRICS bloc this year, has been a vocal critic of Israeli military actions. Pezeshkian’s remarks at the BRICS forum reflect Tehran’s increasing calls for a regional ceasefire.
Iran itself is braced for Israel’s potential retaliatory attack after Tehran launched a barrage of around 200 ballistic missiles at Israel on October 1.
That attack was in retaliation for the killing of various leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah and a Revolutionary Guards commander.
