Iran’s FM Meets with Saudi Crown Prince

RIYADH: Iranian Minister for Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian met with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s (KSA) Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman in Jeddah, Arab media reported on Friday.

According to Arab News, the meeting came as part of Iran’s top diplomat’s visit to Saudi Arabia on his first visit to the Kingdom since a landmark rapprochement agreement in March.

Arab media reported that the two leaders discussed bilateral ties and also explored future opportunities for cooperation between the two nations. They also discussed global and regional developments during the meeting.

During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister also conveyed the greetings of Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi to Saudi King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Earlier, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Thursday confirmed that President Raisi will visit Saudi Arabia anytime soon. Saudi Arabian Foreign Minister Prince Faisal, bin Farhan, said that Saudi Arabia hopes to see the Iranian President visit the Kingdom following an invitation from King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The anticipation of the Iranian President’s upcoming visit symbolizes a significant stride forward in Saudi-Iran relations, reflecting the evolving diplomatic landscape in the Gulf and echoing the growing sentiment of cooperation and understanding.
