MOSCOW: In a significant diplomatic move, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Ali Bagheri Kani, met with Hamas representatives in Moscow, Russian state news agency TASS reported. The discussions primarily focused on a ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, as well as providing essential humanitarian support to the besieged Gaza Strip.
During the talks, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed Iran’s “priority” in negotiations, emphasizing the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire, humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza, and the lifting of the repressive blockade on the region.
Kani also held discussions with Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, focusing on efforts to cease hostilities in Gaza and extend humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian population.
President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, clarified that the Kremlin had no direct contact with Hamas during the visit.
