TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have stressed the need to end ongoing genocide in Gaza, state media reported on Monday.

During a phone conversation, they criticized the policies of the US and some Western countries towards the people of Gaza.

While reviewing the latest status of bilateral ties Pezeshkian and Ibrahim reviewed the current developments in the region, particularly the ongoing talks to establish a ceasefire in Gaza.

The heads of the two countries also criticized the policies and actions of the United States and some Western nations towards the people of Gaza, the media and weapons support of these countries for Israel which is contrary to the claim of defending human rights and trying to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza.

They said the Western countries’ support is the reason for the continuation of the crimes of Israel against the oppressed and defenceless people of Gaza.

The two sides also stressed the need for unity and coordinated action of Islamic countries to confront the crimes of Israel and stop the killing and genocide in Gaza.

They said that holding a conference of the heads of Islamic cooperation countries is an effective measure in this direction.
