CAIRO, Egypt: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Thursday to discuss rising regional tensions.

The talks focused on the escalating situation in the Middle East, with El-Sisi emphasizing the need to prevent further conflict and calling for diplomatic efforts to avoid a regional war.

Araqchi echoed the importance of fostering relations between Egypt and Iran while exploring mutual development opportunities.

This meeting marked the first high-level visit by an Iranian official to Cairo in years, signalling an attempt to contain the escalating conflict, especially with the ongoing violence between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Tensions have been rising, particularly after Iran’s missile strike on October 1. Araqchi’s visit is part of a broader Middle Eastern diplomatic tour aimed at easing regional tensions.
