TEHRAN: Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, has stated that Tehran has not yet decided whether it will participate in the next round of negotiations with the United States to reach a new nuclear agreement, following the recent Israeli attack on Iran.

Speaking to IRIB regarding Iran’s decision to participate in the sixth round of talks with the United States in Muscat, Baqaei stated that it is unimaginable for Iran to believe Israel would carry out such acts of aggression in the region without US coordination or explicit approval.

He added that the actions of the other party have effectively rendered the negotiations meaningless.

“We hold the US administration responsible for the consequences of this reckless and unlawful behaviour by the Israeli regime,” he said.

Earlier on June 10, Baqaei said Iran and the United States will hold the new round of talks in Muscat on June 15, with Oman as the mediator.

Iran and the United States have held five rounds of talks mediated by Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi, three in Muscat and two in Rome.

It is pertinent to mention that United States (US) President Donald Trump has said that “Iran must make a deal, before there is nothing left”.

In a post on Truth Social, the US president stated: “I gave Iran chance after chance to make a deal. I told them, in the strongest of words, to “just do it,” but no matter how hard they tried, no matter how close they got, they just couldn’t get it done. I told them it would be much worse than anything they know, anticipated, or were told, that the United States makes the best and most lethal military equipment anywhere in the World, BY FAR, and that Israel has a lot of it, with much more to come – And they know how to use it.”
