TEHRAN: Iran has said that its ties with neighboring Arab nations is on the rise in the light of the recent developments and proceedings, Arab media reported on Monday.

During a press conference, the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nasser Kanaani said that the exchange of delegations in the region has produced a very positive result especially for bilateral ties with nations like the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait.
The spokesman said Iran’s foreign policy seeks to attain “common goals and eliminate misunderstandings” assuring that Iran will continue in this way to guarantee the bilateral interests of the region.
In general, cooperation with regional countries in accordance with the recent situation will direct to better ties through joint dialogues and endeavors.
Replying to a question on the diplomatic ties with Riyadh, Kanaani added that they have made very good progress in equipping and maintain diplomatic missions with official agenda set thanks to the recent deals which include the restructuring of locations in Jeddah and Riyadh.
Kanaani also mentioned that there are no more travel constraints between both countries, especially for businessmen, and the opportunity of issuing entry visas are much more achievable.
The spokesperson was also enthusiastic towards reopening embassies and consulates officially in Tehran and Riyadh, thanks to the contemporary deals in Beijing to restore diplomatic ties.
The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry had earlier said that Iran wants to improve ties with Egypt, days after it was announced that Tehran and Riyadh had restored diplomatic ties as part of a Beijing-brokered agreement.
“Egypt is a significant country in the region and what the region needs is interaction between Egypt and Iran,” Kanaani added, saying, “and we believe in taking new measures to improve our ties.”
He had also said that Iranian Foreign Minister and Egyptian President had a “quick and positive” meeting during the Baghdad II Summit last year.
Although there have been no immediate comments from Egypt about Kanaani’s statement, news of the restoration of ties between KSA and Iran was welcomed.
