TEHRAN: Iran’s foreign ministry has asked the United Nations Security Council to take decisive action in response to Israel’s killing of a top Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander in Syria. Last week, Razi Mousavi, a prominent IRGC figure, was assassinated in Syria, prompting Iran to seek international intervention.
In a weekly press conference, foreign ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said that Iran had communicated with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, urging the Security Council to fulfill its responsibility in maintaining international peace and preventing any compromise of regional stability.
Kanani denounced the killing of Razi Mousavi as a “blatant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” He emphasized that both Iran and Syria reserve the right to respond to this act of aggression at a time of their choosing.
