TEHRAN, Iran: Iran has pledged to retaliate against recent sanctions imposed by Britain, France, and Germany, which accused Tehran of supplying short-range missiles to Russia for use in Ukraine.

Nasser Kanani, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman, condemned the sanctions as part of a broader “hostile policy” and “economic terrorism” against Iran. In response, Iran will implement “appropriate and proportionate action” against the Western nations.

The European countries have taken steps to cancel air service agreements with Iran and are considering sanctions against Iran Air. They also plan to target individuals and entities linked to Iran’s ballistic missile program and its alleged arms transfers to Russia. Iran has strongly denied these allegations, asserting that claims of supplying ballistic missiles to Russia are “completely baseless and false.”

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken supported the European stance, stating that Russia had indeed received ballistic missiles from Iran and would likely deploy them in Ukraine soon. This escalating tension highlights the ongoing geopolitical friction and the complex dynamics surrounding Iran’s role in the Ukraine conflict.
