ISLAMABAD: Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan on Wednesday expressed gratitude to Pakistan for its support of the Islamic Republic during the recent 12-day conflict with Israel, calling it a historic demonstration of brotherhood and solidarity.
Ambassador Reza Amiri Moghadam, in a statement on social media, said the people of Iran will never forget this historic expression of brotherhood and support extended by the Pakistani nation.
“At this historic and momentous juncture, as the great nation of Iran celebrates a dignified and decisive victory—culminating in the imposition of a just and powerful ceasefire upon the belligerent adversary—I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the government and people of Pakistan,” he said.
The ambassador added that in the face of an unjust and imposed aggression by the ‘Zionist regime’ against the brotherly, friendly, and Muslim nation of Iran, Pakistan stood resolutely and honourably beside us, demonstrating unwavering solidarity and support.

“I am especially grateful to His Excellency Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan; His Excellency Mr. Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister; Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of the Army Staff; Mr. Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Khawaja Asif, Minister of Defence; along with the esteemed members of the National Assembly and Senate, the religious scholars, political parties, and media outlets of Pakistan for their principled and courageous positions,” he stated.
He also thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan for its consistent and firm support of the Islamic Republic of Iran at various international platforms—including the United Nations, the UN Security Council, and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation.
Ambassador Moghadam stated that the people and governments of Iran and Pakistan have, throughout history, stood shoulder to shoulder in solidarity and fraternity. He added that the people of Iran will never forget this historic expression of brotherhood and support extended by the Pakistani nation.
It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday held a telephone conversation with Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and discussed the rapidly evolving situation in the Middle East.
He emphasised the importance of restoring peace through dialogue and diplomacy, the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.
He reiterated Pakistan’s support for Iran at all diplomatic forums, including at the UN Security Council and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), while calling for adherence to international law and the UN Charter principles by all sides.
President Pezeshkian thanked the Prime Minister for the telephone call and appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and principled support of Iran throughout the crisis.
He also acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The two leaders agreed on the importance of unity among the Ummah during this most challenging time. They agreed to remain in touch.
Iran-Israel war
While Iran and Israel have been locked in a shadow war for decades, their 12-day conflict was by far the most destructive confrontation between them.
Israeli strikes hit nuclear and military targets — killing scientists and senior military figures — as well as residential areas, prompting waves of Iranian missile fire on Israel.
The war culminated in US strikes on underground Iranian nuclear sites using bunker-busting bombs — which Israel lacks — followed by an Iranian reprisal targeting a US military base in Qatar, the largest in the Middle East.
Trump shrugged off that response as “weak”, thanking Tehran for giving advance notice and announcing the contours of the ceasefire just hours later.
Israeli strikes on Iran killed at least 610 civilians and wounded more than 4,700, according to the health ministry. Iran’s attacks on Israel killed 28 people, according to official figures and rescuers cited by AFP.
