PESHAWAR: Ali Banafsha Khawa, Iran’s Consul General in Peshawar, on Thursday, emphasized Iran’s keen interest in becoming an active participant in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and highlighted the importance of cooperation among regional countries for mutual progress and prosperity
He expressed these views in a conversation with a journalist during his visit to Peshawar Press Club (PPC). The Iranian envoy participated in a Meet the Press event.
The gathering provided an opportunity for open discussions on different subjects, including CPEC, Iran-Pakistan trade ties, and fostering people-to-people linkages between the two neighboring countries.
Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline Project
During the event, the Iranian Consul General, while responding to different queries on the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline project, said that Tehran had completed its part of the pipeline, and now it was incumbent on Islamabad to fulfill its commitments to ensure the success of the project and benefits for both countries.
Arshad Aziz Malik, President of the PPC, and other senior journalists warmly welcomed the Iranian envoy at the event.
The exchange allowed for candid and constructive discussions aimed at further consolidating bilateral ties between Pakistan and Iran.
Moreover, Shabbir Hussain Imam, a member of the Peshawar Press Club, briefed the Consul General on the PPC Library, named in honor of Syed Abul Hassan Jafri, a local journalist who also served in the Iranian Consulate.
On the occasion, Ali Banafsha Khawa stressed the need for updates to enrich the knowledge resources available at the PPC library and enhance its role as an essential center for intellectual growth and understanding.
