The reopening ceremony was attended by officials from Kingdom’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs alongside Iran’s new envoy to Saudi Arabia and officials from Iranian Foreign Ministry. On the occasion, the national anthems of the two nations were also played, as the flags of Saudi Arabia and Iran were hoisted on embassy grounds.

Earlier, Iran’s foreign ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani said on Monday “Iran’s embassy in Riyadh, Consulate General in Jeddah and our office to the OIC will be formally reopened on Tuesday and Wednesday,”.

Earlier, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran agreed to end a diplomatic split under a Beijing-mediated agreement in March.
