Iran, Pakistan Aim to Boost Economic, Trade Ties

ISLAMABAD:  Iran’s Deputy Minister for Economics and Finance Reza Bakhshi on Thursday called on Acting Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Humair Karim, and discussed ways to boost bilateral trade and economic ties.

According to a press release of the ministry, the two sides exchanged views on the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Iran and Pakistan, aiming to enhance economic ties for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Karim welcoming the Iranian official underscored Pakistan’s commitment to foster the historic and friendly relations shared between the two neighboring countries.

He expressed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening these ties, fostering increased trade and economic opportunities.

Karim appreciated the significant progress achieved following the 21st Joint Economic Committee (JEC) meeting held between Pakistan and Iran in August 2022.

The two countries agreed to hold bilateral talks and follow-up meetings to implement the decisions made during the 21st JEC and prepare for the 22nd JEC in Iran.

Bakhshi, in his remarks, expressed Iran’s keen interest in bolstering cooperation across various sectors, including mutual development projects, investments, banking systems, and trade ties with Pakistan.

The visit of Iranian Deputy Minister Reza Bakhshi Ani, marks another step forward in long long-lasting partnership between Iran and Pakistan.
