QUETTA: Iranian Consul General (CG) Hasan Golivand Darvesh said Iran would increase its annual trade volume with Pakistan from $1.5 billion to $5 billion.
He expressed these views while talking to the Director General of Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Mujibur Rahman Qambrani, during his visit to Gwadar city on Saturday.
GDA DG informed Iranian Consul General about implementing of the Master Plan of the Gwadar Smart Port City and the under-progress development projects.
The DG said Iran’s supply of 100 MW of additional electricity reflected the strong friendship between the two neighboring Islamic countries.
He said the GDA had provided all the required facilities in Gwadar, including the international airport, water, education, health, roads, sports fields, and parks.
He said under the master plan, GDA is establishing a central business district comprised of 25,00 acres of land. “With the completion of which, Gwadar will turn into an international economic and tourist city at the international level, which will guarantee the prosperity of the country and the region.”
Consul General appreciates development of Gwadar
Appreciating the development of Gwadar Port City and the projects in the master plan, the Iranian Consul General said the prosperity and development of Gwadar were in the interest of both the neighbouring countries.
He added that Iran was interested in launching projects to generate energy from natural sources, to generate 300 megawatts electricity from solar energy was under consideration.
The meeting agreed to exchange delegations highlighting cultural, business, and tourism links between Gwadar and Chabahar.
