DUBAI: Iran has unveiled its latest technological achievement, the domestically developed ‘Mohajer-10’ drone, boasting improved capabilities including extended flight range and payload capacity, Iranian state media reported on Tuesday.
The ‘Mohajer-10’ drone has been engineered with an operational range of 2,000 km (1,240 miles), a significant enhancement from previous iterations, enabling it to cover more ground and fulfill a wider range of missions. Additionally, the drone has the capacity to remain airborne for up to 24 hours, further expanding its operational scope and versatility.
A notable advancement is seen in the drone’s payload capacity, which can now reach up to 300 kg (661 pounds). This payload capability marks a doubling of the capacity featured in the earlier iteration, the “Mohajer-6” drone.
Capabilities of ‘Mohajer-10’ Drone
In conjunction with the unveiling of the ‘Mohajer-10’, Iranian media released a video showcasing the new drone alongside other military equipment. The video featured text in both Hebrew and Persian stating “prepare your shelters,” a message hinting at simmering regional tensions between long-standing adversaries Iran and Israel.
The unveiling coincided with Iran’s military industry day, a symbolic gesture highlighting the nation’s indigenous capabilities in defense technology. The video’s message aligns with escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recently asserting that Tehran was involved in financing and encouraging a series of fatal attacks targeting Israelis.
The development of advanced drones by Iran has garnered international attention, with some Western officials expressing concerns over the possible proliferation of Iranian drone technology. In recent years, Iran has faced accusations of supplying drones, including the ‘Mohajer-6’, to various entities involved in regional conflicts. Notably, allegations have been made regarding the provision of drones to Russia for its engagement in Ukraine.
Tehran has consistently denied these allegations, underscoring its commitment to indigenous technological advancement in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles.
