TEHRAN, Iran: Iran has ramped up efforts to deport undocumented Afghan migrants, with plans to expel two million by March 2025.

According to Iranian media, over 750,000 illegal migrants have already been deported, and more than 500,000 were arrested and forcibly removed this year alone. Additionally, 250,000 migrants have voluntarily left the country.

Iran cites illegal immigration concerns as the main reason for these actions. However, the mass deportations have sparked criticism from human rights organizations, who are urging dialogue between Iran and Afghanistan to ensure the safety and dignity of Afghan migrants amidst rising tensions between the two nations.
