BEIRUT: The Iranian embassy in Lebanon has condemned a series of intense Israeli attacks on the densely-packed Hezbollah stronghold of Beirut’s southern suburbs Friday, warning of a “dangerous escalation” in the region.
In a statement via social media, the Iranian embassy said that this shameful crime represents a dangerous escalation that changes the rules of the game, adding will receive the appropriate punishment.
Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei has also convened an emergency meeting of the country’s Supreme National Security Council in response to Israel’s strike in Lebanon, Iranian media reported.

The meeting comes amid conflicting reports about the status of Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah, after Israel’s strike on the group’s main center in the southern suburbs of Beirut.
