ISLAMABAD: Iran, playing their second group match at FIFA World Cup 2022, defeated Wales by 2-0 after a rough and competitive display at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha, Qatar.
Iran were able to score twice in the dying moments of the game when Rouzbeh Cheshmi 90’+8’ and Ramin Rezaeian 90’+11’.
Wales failed to capitalize on the ball possession rate of 62 percent as Iran via well-walled defenses were able to stop the ball going into their goal.
Welsh players made a total of 502 passes as opposed to 298 by the Iranians.
The match saw Wales’s players picking up a red card (Wayne Hennessey 86’) along with a yellow card while Iranian players received yellow cards.
Previously, Iran lost to England 2-6 on November 21st while Wales drew with the US 1-1 on November 22nd.
