TEHRAN: The commander of the Iranian Army’s Air Defense Force says his forces are fully prepared to counter any threat against Tehran’s airspace by using state-of-the-art indigenous defense systems.
Brigadier General Alireza Sabahifard made the remarks during in his visit to Northeast Air Defense Zone of the country, local media reported on Friday.
The brigadier general stressed the need to maintain combat readiness and vigilance of air defense force’s staff to defend Iran’s airspace, he added the Air Defense Force plays a vital role in protecting the airspace of the country by using the most modern warfare equipment and efficient manpower.
Referring to the importance of the air defense role in safeguarding the security of the country and countering the enemy’s threats, the commander stated, the Air Defense Force has taken extensive measures to upgrade its radar and missile systems.
He said Iran also has held joint military drills with other armed forces that shows the complete readiness of Air Defense Force to protect the country’s skies from external threats.
He added Iran has been equipping its armed forces with the most advanced air defense systems.
