Iran, Afghanistan Agree to Cooperate to Curb Drug Trafficking

TEHRAN: Deputy director of Iran’s anti-narcotics department, Mohammad Zarei, on Wednesday announced that Tehran and Kabul have agreed to share information to curb drug trafficking.

Zarei told local media that the decision was made during a meeting between both sides in Kabul. He added the fight against narcotics, prevention, reduction of demand and treatment of drug addicts also came under discussion.

He also added that the exchange of information regarding the fight against drugs, as well as the provision of educational services and the formation of joint committees to tackle the issue were also agreed upon.

Zarei stated that the two countries agreed to boost coordination so that the sides could use the information to counter and dismantle gangs of drug traffickers.
