ISLAMABAD: Following the abrupt interruption and subsequent abandonment of the IPL fixture between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala, fresh details have emerged concerning the safety protocols and evacuation measures undertaken at the venue.

In a further development, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced that a special train will be arranged tomorrow to transport players, staff, and the broadcasting team out of Dharamsala.

The venue has already been cleared, and a final decision regarding whether the match will resume or be rescheduled is expected to be made tomorrow.

Although the match was initially suspended due to a reported floodlight malfunction, conflicting accounts began to surface as spectators were seen leaving the stadium amid growing security concerns.

Ordering the evacuation

By approximately 9 pm, it became evident that IPL officials had ordered the evacuation of the stadium on security grounds.

Subsequently, the IPL Board retracted this statement and instead clarified that the match had been abandoned due to a major technical issue resulting from a power outage that had affected one of the floodlight towers at the HPCA Stadium.

However, footage circulating widely on social media appears to contradict the BCCI’s version of events.

A cheerleader from the IPL even posted a video offering a glimpse into the actual situation unfolding inside the stadium.
