ISLAMABAD: A two-day international conference on “Modern Trends in the Arabic Novel” kicked off at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) here on Wednesday as a part of its Golden Jubilee celebrations.
The conference is being organized by the Department of Arabic (Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies) of AIOU.
The ongoing conference, as announced by Dr. Abdul Majeed Baghdadi, Chairman of the Department of Arabic, is set to host 13 scholars hailing from diverse nations such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan, Thailand, Malaysia, Oman, Algeria, Nigeria, and Syria, who will attend in person.
Additionally, 15 international scholars will join the event virtually. The conference is open to participation from faculty members, experts, researchers, and intellectuals nationwide.
The conference’s opening session was graced by the Federal Minister of Education and Professional Training, Madad Ali Sindhi, and the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia, Nawaf Al Maliki. Vice Chancellor AIOU, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mahmood, will preside over the event. Notable keynote speakers include Prof. Dr. Habibur Rahman Asim, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Jafari (representing Algeria), and Prof. Dr. Fawad Abdul Mutalib (representing Jordan).
