ISLAMABAD: COMSTECH-the OIC Standing Committee for Scientific and Technological Cooperation has planned to arrange an international conference on Science Communication and Community Engagement from February 1 to 3.
According to an official of COMSTECH, the media or science students, public relations experts, researchers, NPOS, and NGOs, Coordinators working at media organizations (social, electronic, print) will attend this conference cum workshop.
Themes of the conference
The conference’s themes include Academia and Understanding, Science Diplomacy, Emerging Technologies, Climate Change, and Life Sciences. At the same time, the workshop’s focus will be media training, advocacy, and networking.
The international speakers at the conference include Dr. Mahaletchumy Arujanan, Malaysia; Mr. Ehsan Masood, Editor of Nature, UK; Dr. Fabio Turono, Italy; Dr. Daborah Blum, USA; Mr. Mohammad Yahya, Egypt; Mr. Michael Wadleigh, USA; Dr. Brooke Smith, USA; Prof. John Dudley, France; and Dr. Saad Lotfey, UAE.
The workshop will be a hybrid in which the participants can attend the event online and in person.
Organizers of the conference
Coordinator General, COMSTECH Professor Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary will be the Patron-in-Chief of the workshop, while Professor Dr. Syed Javaid Khurshid will be the Associate Coordinator.
The conference will be organized by COMSTECH in collaboration with the Daily Technology Times, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Rapport, and the Pakistan Biotechnology Information Center.
COMSTECH, the Ministerial Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation of the OIC, was established by the Third Islamic Summit of OIC held at Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in January 1981.
