DOHA, Qatar: Students from 15 countries participated in the ‘Huawei Seeds for the Future programme’ in 2023, joining together for a memorable cultural exchange experience at the Global Village event at the Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.
They ingeniously showcased their respective cultures and traditions at this event through various vibrant stalls. Representing their respective countries, students enthusiastically ventured into the stalls arranged by their international counterparts, engaging in lively discussions to gain deeper insights into their distinct traditions and heritage. With great enthusiasm, they wore the traditional clothing of other nations, cultivating an environment of camaraderie and mutual admiration.
One particularly memorable activity had the students visit one another’s booths and negotiate for symbolic tickets using their mock “Global Citizen” passports. Several countries participated, including Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Mongolia, Oman, Qatar, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Uzbekistan. The representatives from every country gave insightful speeches covering various subjects, including each nation’s culture, traditions, tourist attractions, languages, money, minerals, cuisine, political systems, and traditional clothing.
Students from many of these countries also perform enthralling performances, demonstrating the rituals practiced during weddings and other festive events, further enveloping the audience in the richness of their cultures. Dance performances further amplified the event’s enjoyment. The event, jointly organized by the relevant Qatari ministries and AIESEC, was a huge success, garnering an enthusiastic ovation from the audience who genuinely liked the performances and recognized the students’ tireless work. —APP
