SRINAGAR: Political experts and observers are increasingly recognizing the legitimacy of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) people’s quest for freedom and self-determination within the international community.

According to Kashmir Media Service, these experts highlighted that international law upholds the Kashmiri people’s right to resist oppression and seek justice, with United Nations Security Council resolutions affirming the validity of their struggle.

All Parties Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq urged New Delhi to resolve the long-standing Kashmir dispute through dialogue. Speaking to a large gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, he called for the immediate release of Kashmiri political prisoners, including Hurriyat leaders, lawyers, and human rights activists unjustly detained in Indian and IIOJK jails.

Mirwaiz emphasized that the outcomes of the recent assembly elections in IIOJK serve as a powerful rebuke to the Modi government’s unilateral and illegal decisions made in August 2019, which have eroded the rights and identity of Kashmiris and effectively silenced their voices.

Meanwhile, protests erupted across Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Friday in response to sacrilegious remarks made by Hindutva priest Yati Narsinghanand. Demonstrators took to the streets in various locations across the Jammu region and Kashmir Valley after congregational Friday prayers, demanding the immediate arrest of the priest and stringent legal action against him.

Protest speakers criticized the BJP-led Indian government’s inaction, arguing that it suggests complicity and a disregard for Muslim sentiments. They condemned the priest’s remarks as hurtful to Muslims worldwide and undermining the sanctity of their faith.

Moreover, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, called on the international community to take decisive action to resolve the Kashmir and Palestine disputes. In a message from New Delhi’s Tihar Jail, he lamented that the world is silently witnessing the violence and destruction inflicted upon Kashmiris and Palestinians by their oppressors.

He stressed that military aggression and deprivation of basic rights in these disputed areas necessitate urgent resolution for global peace and prosperity.
