WASHINGTON: Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” has made history by surpassing $1 billion at the international box office, becoming the first animated film to achieve this milestone. This pits it in an elite group of 12 films that have crossed the billion-dollar threshold from overseas ticket sales only. Notably “The Lion King” (2019) also reached this mark, Disney considers it as live-action due to its realistic CGI.
“Inside Out 2” is presently the highest-grossing film of the year worldwide, with an impressive $1.649 billion globally, with $1.002 billion from overseas markets. It’s phenomenal success demonstrates its widespread appeal, particularly in Brazil, Mexico, the U.K., Korea and France.
In contrast, “Deadpool & Wolverine,” another Disney blockbuster this summer, has grossed $634.1 million internationally, highlighting the impressive reach of “Inside Out 2” even when compared to other hit movies.
Other notable box office performances include “Alien: Romulus,” which accumulated $57.8 million globally this weekend, boosting its total to $225.4 million. Meanwhile, recent releases “Blink Twice” and “The Crow” reboot struggled, suffering disappointing domestic international debuts.
