ISLAMABAD: Muhammad Sami Saeed, Caretaker Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, on Wednesday said that infrastructure development projects played an important role in improving connectivity and tackling the challenges posed by water scarcity and climate change.
He expressed these views while presiding over performance review meetings on the functions of infrastructure development and Monitoring and Evaluation Wings.
In a meeting, Member Infrastructure Waqas Anwar gave a briefing on projects spanning different sectors in communication and transportation.
Infrastructure to Tackle Climate-induced Calamities
He said building resilient and establishing weather-resistant infrastructure to tackle climate-induced calamities was the need of the hour.
In another meeting that reviewed the progress of the Monitoring and Evaluation Wing, the Project Director, Dr Zahir Shah, briefed on real-time project monitoring and evaluation.
The presentation also highlighted the Intelligent Project Automation System (IPAS) and outlined forthcoming action plans.
It was underscored that with the integration of technology, impact analysis of development projects had become necessary under directions from the Central Development Working Party for comprehensive project assessment.
Minister Sami Saeed showed his resolve and commitment to continue the development initiatives.
