Indonesian Corner Opens at National Book Foundation

ISLAMABAD: The Ambassador of Indonesia, Mr. Adam Tugio, and Managing Director of National Book Foundation (NBF), Dr. Raja Mazhar Hameed on Friday jointly inaugurated the first Indonesian Corner at National Book Foundation in Islamabad.

Ambassador Tugio on the occasion said Indonesian Corner is not only a resource center with comfortable space for learning and open dialogue but also a manifestation of close linkages between Indonesia and Pakistan.

He thanked the Managing Director of the NBF for the initiative while appreciating the joint efforts of Indonesian Embassy and the NBF in setting up the book corner.

The inauguration ceremony coincided with the commemoration of the birth anniversary month of Pakistan’s national poet and philosopher, Dr.  Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The Ambassador honored Dr. Muhammad Iqbal by recognizing the strong connections between Indonesia and Pakistan through Iqbal’s philosophy, vision and ideas to Indonesian Muslim scholars.

Pakistan values its relationship with Indonesia

Managing Director of NBF, Dr. Raja Mazhar Hameed expressing his views said Pakistan values its relationship with Indonesia adding the two brotherly countries always supported each other in the need of hour.

He said both the countries will collaborate to promote, literature, culture, and people to people ties.

CEO of Institute of Dyslexia Education and Attitudinal Studies (IDEAS), Ms Mumtaz Irum lauded the establishment of the Indonesia Corner in NBF. She emphasized the important contribution of academic exchange programme between Indonesia and Pakistan to establish a more inclusive educational environment.

Indonesian Corner will promote dialogue between the people of Indonesia and Pakistan. Visitors will also get reliable information about Indonesia through books, magazines, videos, and engaging activities such as; Bahasa language learning opportunities, cultural programs and tourism information and many other exciting activities.

The visitors will also find collection of traditional artefacts representing 38 provinces in Indonesia at the Indonesia Corner. The artefacts showcase rich and vibrant culture of Indonesia. This collection serves as a representation of the cultural heritage Indonesia brings to Pakistan.
