PESHAWAR: An Indian woman named Anju has traveled to the Upper Dir district of Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province to meet her Facebook friend, Nasrullah, whom she befriended on the social media platform a few months ago.
Anju, a married woman from India’s Uttar Pradesh state, arrived in Upper Dir with a one-month visit visa to spend time with her 29-year-old friend, Nasrullah, who works in the medical field. The two developed a friendship through Facebook, leading Anju to embark on her journey to Pakistan.
Local authorities clarified that Anju’s visit is not for marriage purposes, and she is currently residing at Nasrullah’s home during her stay.
Relationships Between Pakistani and Indian Citizens
Cross-border relationships through social media platforms are not uncommon, and several similar instances have been reported in the past. In May, a young boy from India traveled to Pakistan with his family and married a girl from Sukkur, whom he befriended on social media.
Such cross-border love stories have occurred in the past, exemplifying the power of virtual connections in bringing people from different countries together. Authorities confirm that Anju’s visit is well-documented, and she has adhered to the visa regulations.
Cross-border marriages have even involved prominent figures, with the well-known example of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik marrying Indian tennis star Sania Mirza. Their union brought together two people from different countries, highlighting the potential of love and friendship transcending national boundaries.
