ISLAMABAD: In a heartwarming tale of cross-border love, an Indian woman named Anju, now known as Fatima after her conversion to Islam from Hinduism, married her Pakistani friend Nasrullah in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Upper Dir district. The couple tied the knot in a local court under the supervision of a district and sessions judge.

Deputy Inspector General Nasir Mehmood Satti of Malakand Division confirmed the nikkah (marriage) between Anju, 35, and Nasrullah, 29. Anju expressed her happiness and willingly embraced Islam before marrying her beloved Nasrullah.

The couple recorded their statement under Section 164, affirming that the nikkah was performed with their consent and free will. Following the ceremony, Anju, now Fatima, was escorted to her new home under police security.

Indian Woman Arrives in Pakistan Via Wagah Border

According to the Upper Dir District Police Officer, Mushtaq Khan, Anju arrived in Pakistan legally through the Wagah Border on July 22 and possessed a valid visa, allowing her to stay in the country until August 21. If she wishes to extend her visit, she will need to request an extension from the Home Ministry.

Notably, Anju is a divorcee and has children back in India. In an earlier video statement, she clarified that she did not plan to stay in Pakistan permanently and intended to return in a few days. Anju also made an earnest plea to the Indian media not to bother her family in India and urged them to contact her directly if they wanted to know about her visit to Upper Dir.

This cross-border love story has warmed hearts on both sides of the border, showcasing the power of love that transcends geographical boundaries and enmities.
