ISLAMABAD: Anju, an Indian woman who made headlines by traveling to Upper Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and marrying her Pakistani friend Nasrullah after converting to Islam, has been granted a one-year extension to her visa by Pakistani authorities on Tuesday.
Anju, now known as Fatima after her conversion, crossed the border into Pakistan via the Wagah border on July 22. She married Nasrullah in a local court of a district and sessions judge last month. Her initial visa allowed her to stay in Pakistan for up to a month.

Relevant Departments in Pakistan Cooperating with Anju
Nasrullah confirmed the extension of Anju’s visa for a period of one year. He stated that all relevant documents had been provided to the interior ministry, and various Pakistani departments and institutions had been cooperating with them.
Notably, Anju had previously received gifts, including Rs50,000 and 10 marla housing land, as a token of appreciation for her conversion to Islam. These gifts were presented by Mohsin Khan Abbasi, the CEO of a real estate company based in KP. Abbasi visited Anju and Nasrullah at their residence to present the gifts and expressed the intention of making Anju feel at home in Pakistan.
Anju’s story has garnered attention as an example of cross-cultural relationships and the spirit of acceptance. Her journey from India to Pakistan, her conversion, and her marriage to Nasrullah have sparked discussions about love and understanding transcending borders and religious differences.
