ISLAMABAD: While the blood of innocent Kashmiris has been pouring for more than 70 years in Jammu and Kashmir, which India has illegally occupied, Indian troops have killed 21 Kashmiris this year, including three teenagers, in just the last four months.

The data released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service on Monday claimed that at least 50 civilians were injured due to the use of brute force by Indian paramilitary troops and police on defenceless inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the period, the Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force, Army, dreaded State Investigation Agency and National Investigation Agency arrested over 400 civilians, including a Hurriyat leader Bilal Ahmed Siddiqui, youth, students, journalist Irfan Meraj and political activists.

Many were arrested under the draconian Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Public Safety Act. The Indian forces conducted 860 search and cordon operations during the reported period. Furthermore, the troops martyred three Kashmiris in April and held at least 94 Kashmiris.

The gruesome killings aim to terrify Kashmiris, but every killing instils new vigour in their struggle for freedom. Meanwhile, over four thousand Hurriyat leaders, students, activists, youth, journalists and human rights defenders, including APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Naheeda Nasreen, Fehmeeda Sofi, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Merajudin Kalwal, Farooq Ahmad Dar, Mohammad Ayaz Akbar, and Peer Saifullah, along with more than two dozen Kashmiri women continue to remain lodged in different jails of IIOJK and India.

Besides, other Hurriyat activists and leaders, including Shahidul Islam, Maulvi Bashir Ahmed, Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Bilal Siddiqi, Ameer Hamza, Abdul Samad Inqilabi, Abdul Majeed Dar Almadni, Dr Hameed Fayaz, Mushtaq Ahmad Veeri, Abdul Rashid Dawoodi, Muhammad Sharief Sartaj, Noor Muhammad Fayaz, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, Adv Zahid Ali, Fayaz Ahmed, Dr Muhammad Qasim Fakhtoo, Zaffar Akbar Bhat, Eng Rashid, human rights defenders Khurrum Parvez, Muhammad Rafiq Ganai, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Syed Shahid Yousuf, Ghulam Qadir Butt, Syed Shakeel Yousuf, Muhammad Yousuf Mir, Hayat Ahmed Butt, journalists Aasif Sultan, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Irfan Majeed and Fahad Shah are also behind bars.
