SRINAGAR: General Counsel for Sikh for Justice (SFJ) Gurpatwant Singh Pannun said on Saturday that the fatalities of Indian soldiers in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) should not be categorized as acts of terrorism; instead, they are outcomes of the ongoing conflict with indigenous Kashmiri freedom fighters.
In a video statement, Pannun emphasized that these freedom fighters are indigenous to Kashmir and possess a legitimate right to seek freedom, similar to the aspirations of people in Punjab, including Sikhs who desire to reclaim their homeland from what they perceive as an unjust Indian occupation.
Peaceful Resolution in Kashmir
He issued a stern warning to India, underscoring that unless a peaceful resolution is pursued in Punjab, the situation could escalate into armed conflict, with India bearing responsibility for the consequences. Furthermore, he drew attention to the fragile situation in Kashmir, where the Indian army is accused of instilling fear among innocent Kashmiris and targeting freedom fighters.
Pannun pointed out that presently, the conflict is confined to Kashmir, but he anticipated the possibility of it spreading to Punjab in the future as part of an effort to free Punjab from Indian control.
