ISLAMABAD: Indian police detained many activists and political leaders in Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to stop seminars, conferences, and protests in the territory.
Kashmir Media Service reported that the Youm-e-Istehsal was being observed in IIOJK to mark the completion of four years of India’s illegal action to repeal the region’s special status on August 05, 2019.
Youm-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir is observed by the people of Azad Kashmir and Kashmiris living throughout the world to protest an unlawful action made by India on this day in 2019. To end rallies, seminars, and conferences in the region, Indian police detained several PDP and NC officials and activists. Waheed Parra, the president of the PDP’s youth wing, was detained, while Mehbooba Mufti, the party’s leader, was placed under house arrest at her Srinagar home.
Mehbooba Mufti tweeted, “I’ve been put under house arrest today along with other key PDP leaders. This follows a nocturnal raid in which numerous members of my party are forcibly imprisoned in police stations.
She claimed that the paranoia-driven measures of the Indian government had revealed its false assertions to the Supreme Court regarding normalcy. She claimed that while massive billboards (erected by the BJP) urging Kashmiris to “celebrate” the illegitimate repeal of Article 370 have been placed all over Srinagar, violent force is also being employed to stifle the genuine emotion of the people.
In the meantime, the Democratic Youth Forum displayed a black day banner in Srinagar on Black Day, and Justice Party Jammu Kashmir flew green flags in the Islamabad area of south Kashmir.
On the other hand, IIOJK once more saw posters from various pro-freedom organizations. The posters said Kashmiris want the actions of August 5 reversed, the Kashmir dispute resolved following UN resolutions, all political prisoners released, and Indian soldiers in IIOJK to stop violating human rights there. —APP
