Indian Passenger Aircraft Lands in Turkey After Bomb Threat

ISTANBUL:  A flight operated by Indian Vistara Airlines with 247 passengers on board made an emergency landing on Friday in the Turkish city of Erzurum following a bomb threat.

According to Turkish media an anonymous caller said there was a bomb on board. Authorities had evacuated the plane soon after it landed and were searching for explosives.

The plane was flying to Frankfurt, Germany, from Mumbai, India.

“Flight UK27 from Mumbai to Frankfurt (BOM-FRA) has been diverted to Turkey (Erzurum airport) due to security reasons and has landed safely at 1905 hours,” Vistara Airlines said in a post on X.

Soon after the development the Erzurum airspace was closed to flights. Erzurum Governor Musrafa Ciftci told Anadolu news agency, that bomb disposal experts were investigating the plane.
