SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Indian government has recently deployed a newly formed force of highly trained policemen in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) to intimidate and terrorize pro-freedom people in the region.
According to reports from the Kashmir Media Service, the deployed force consists of 960 personnel stationed in villages near the Line of Control (LoC). The primary objective of this deployment, as per sources, is to target and instill fear among civilians who support the freedom movement and advocate for the United Nations-recognized right to self-determination for Kashmiris.
This move by the Indian government has sparked condemnation and concern from various quarters, with critics alleging it as yet another measure to suppress dissent and curtail the legitimate aspirations of the people of IIOJK.
In a related development highlighting international advocacy efforts, the Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum has initiated a digital advertising campaign in the United States capital. Their campaign utilizes trucks equipped with electronic screens displaying messages advocating for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
Messages such as ‘UN Resolution the Only Solution’, ‘Freedom for Kashmir’, ‘Kashmir Facing Existential Threat: US Must Act’, and ‘India Involved in Genocide: Kashmiris Demand Plebiscite’ are being prominently showcased across Washington DC.
Meanwhile, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, a senior leader of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, paid glowing tributes to Shaheed Burhan Muzaffar Wani and his associates. Their martyrdom anniversary is scheduled to be observed on Monday.
From his confinement in Tihar jail, Shabbir Ahmed Shah hailed the supreme sacrifices made by Burhan Wani and his comrades, who were martyred during confrontations with occupation forces. He reiterated the unwavering commitment to continue the ongoing freedom struggle until the cherished goal of liberation from Indian illegal occupation is achieved.
