ISLAMABAD: Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar will embark on a three-day visit to the United States (US) on Monday.
Indian media reported that Jaishankar will be in the US from June 30th to July 2nd.
He is visiting the US on the invitation of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, according to India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
Jaishankar will participate in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the Quad group that will focus on new proposals to advance a common vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific, Indian media reported.
Foreign ministers’ meeting
The Quad foreign ministers’ meeting on July 1 will build on the discussions held at an earlier meeting in Washington on January 21, Indian media stated citing a statement issued by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs.
“They will exchange views on regional and global developments, particularly those concerning the Indo-Pacific, and review the progress made on various Quad initiatives in the run-up to the Quad leaders’ summit,” the Indian Ministry of External Affairs claimed in the statement.
Indian media reported that last week, the Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the US Department of State Tommy Pigott announced that Rubio will host the Foreign Ministers from the Quad countries on July 1 in Washington DC.
