Indian Forces Arrest a Dozen Youths in Occupied Kashmir

SRINAGAR: In a recent development, a dozen young individuals have been apprehended by Indian security forces in the Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) region.

Reports indicate that the joint efforts of Indian troops and police personnel led to the arrest of eleven individuals, namely Syed Azharul Haq, Muhammad Rafiq Hajam, Asif Ahmed Khan, Mumtaz Ahmad Khan, Talib Ahmed Shah, Ahmed Hayat Mir, Bilal Ahmed Ganai, Nisar Ahmed Khan, Bazil Ahmed Mir, Abdul Majeed Kumar, and Aftab Hussain Shah. These arrests were made across different localities within the Kupwara district. The detainees have reportedly been charged under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA) and the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS-PIT), allegedly in connection with fabricated cases.

Separately, Indian security forces apprehended yet another young individual during a cordon and search operation conducted in the Nazninpura area of the Shopian district.

In an unrelated incident, a tragic incident unfolded in the Ganderbal district, where a 22-year-old young man named Zakir Ahmed Thekri lost his life. The unfortunate incident occurred when Zakir Ahmed Thekri accidentally slipped into the Sindh Nallah in the Mammer area, resulting in drowning.

The arrests of these individuals and the unfortunate incident involving the loss of Zakir Ahmed Thekri’s life serve as reminders of the complex and sensitive situation prevailing in the region. The authorities’ actions have drawn attention and sparked discussions on issues related to human rights, due process, and security measures.
