ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: The Indian Security Force stopped their baseball team from entering Pakistan asking them to show the no-objection certificate (NOC) issued by the Indian government.
The Indian and Nepal baseball teams arrived at the Wagah border in Lahore on Wednesday to enter Pakistan to play in the West Asia Cup. The Nepalese team entered Pakistan for the tournament, starting on January 27 in Islamabad. However, the Indian security force asked their team to show the NOC issued by their government.
According to Pakistan Federation Baseball president Fakhar Ali Shah, the Indians had only received their visas late on Tuesday and were still waiting at the Wagah border.

“Even if they get the Noc on January 27, we could adjust the schedule of their matches accordingly,” Fakhar said, adding that Sri Lanka’s arrival had also been delayed. He said they would fly in on Thursday while baseball teams of Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine joined in reaching Islamabad.
Harish Kumar, Indian Baseball Federation General Secretary, accompanying the twenty-member squad, had sent the video message to the PFB, saying it was “thankful to the Pakistan government, especially for their all efforts for the issuance of the visas to the Indian squad”.
Kumar had said they were expected to be in Pakistan by 11:30 am on Wednesday, but now they are waiting.
