SRINAGAR: The Indian government imposed restrictions around Syed Ali Geelani’s grave at Hyderpora, Srinagar to prevent people from reciting Fateha for the veteran leader on his second martyrdom anniversary.
Indian paramilitary and police personnel have been deployed in Hyderpora, Srinagar, to prevent individuals from gathering at the grave of the revered leader to offer their condolences and Fateha for his departed soul. Access to the graveyard is restricted, and people cannot enter, Kashmir Media Service reported on Friday.
During indoor prayer sessions commemorating the second anniversary of the prominent Kashmiri leader’s martyrdom, various leaders and organizations, including the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Tehreek-e-Hurriyet Jammu and Kashmir, Democratic Youth Forum, Chairman of Youth Social Forum Maulana Musaib Nadvi, Jammu Kashmir Peoples Resistance Party Chairman Imtiyaz Ahmed, and Jammu Kashmir Democratic Movement President Prof Zuberi, expressed their heartfelt condolences.

They highlighted that Syed Ali Gilani’s struggle represented a significant and cherished chapter in the history of the Kashmiri freedom movement.
Participants on the occasion praised the veteran leader and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the fight for freedom in Jammu and Kashmir.
