SRINAGAR: National Conference Central leader Omar Abdullah has called for a thorough investigation into the incident involving Indian army soldiers allegedly forcing people to chant “Jai Shri Ram” inside mosques in Pulwama district.
Abdullah stated that the incident occurred not only in one mosque but in two, urging authorities to take the matter seriously and take strict action against those responsible.
Speaking to reporters in Islamabad town, Abdullah emphasized the credibility of the imam’s account and stressed the need for a thorough investigation into the matter. He urged the administration to conduct a detailed probe and ensure appropriate action against the individuals involved.
Resistance Against Indian Troops in IIOJK
Addressing the issue of armed resistance in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Abdullah stated that the struggle will persist as long as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains in power in India. He pointed out that the level of armed resistance in Rajouri and Poonch districts has been unprecedented, suggesting that peace cannot be restored in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir under the current BJP government.
Abdullah remarked, “Militancy has resurfaced in areas where the government had planned to remove the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in 2014. Today, we can witness the presence of militancy in every part of Kashmir, including Srinagar. The recent incidents in Rajouri and Poonch serve as evidence that militancy has reemerged in previously unaffected areas. As long as the BJP remains in power, it will not be eradicated.”
The demand for a comprehensive investigation into the “Jai Shri Ram” incident in two mosques highlights the concerns regarding the treatment of religious institutions and the preservation of communal harmony in the region. The incident has sparked calls for accountability and the protection of religious freedoms in Jammu and Kashmir.
