NEW DELHI: The Indian government has issued an urgent advisory calling for all its nationals in Iran to leave the country amid escalating regional tensions and the potential US military strikes.
In a statement released on Monday, the Indian Embassy in Tehran advised citizens—including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists—to depart “by available means of transport, including commercial flights.”

The embassy also reinforced a previous advisory from January 14, urging everyone to exercise caution, avoid protest areas, stay in contact with the mission, and monitor local media.
Citizens have been instructed to keep their travel documents, such as passports and ID cards, readily accessible. The embassy has provided emergency contact numbers and an email for those in need of assistance.
The advisory comes as anti-government protests intensify across Iran on Saturday. According to state media, students protested at five universities in Tehran and one in Mashhad on Sunday.
US-Iran Tensions
The security alert also coincides with heightened friction between Washington and Tehran. The two nations are scheduled to hold another round of nuclear talks on Thursday in Geneva, with Omani officials set to facilitate. Oman’s Foreign Minister, Badr al-Busaidi, confirmed the meeting, building on indirect talks held last week.
Despite diplomatic efforts, the Trump administration has continued to bolster its military posture in the region. Flight tracking data shows a steady stream of aircraft moving personnel, munitions, and equipment toward the Middle East, underscoring the fragile state of negotiations and the risk of potential conflict.
