ISLAMABAD: After securing a thrilling victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, India has now set its sights on the ICC Men’s World Cup 2027.

Following a commendable runner-up finish in the ODI World Cup 2023, the team broke through a long-standing trophy drought by clinching the T20 World Cup the very next year.

Their momentum reached new heights with a dazzling victory in the Champions Trophy, signalling the dawn of a remarkable streak in white-ball cricket.

Out of a gruelling 24 matches across the last three ICC tournaments, India has captivated fans with an astounding 23 victories, with only a narrow defeat to Australia marring their otherwise stellar campaign in the World Cup 2023 final.

Although last year saw them play just three ODIs, the squad is now geared up for an exhilarating journey ahead, preparing for an astonishing 27 matches leading up to the grand stage of the 2027 World Cup—a true testament to their unyielding determination and relentless quest for glory.

India’s ODI Schedule Leading to World Cup 2027

India vs. Bangladesh (Away): 3 ODIs

August-September 2025

After a two-month IPL season and a Test tour in England, India will kick off their ODI campaign against Bangladesh.

India vs. Australia (Away): 3 ODIs

October-November 2025

Following the Bangladesh tour, India will participate in the Asia Cup, set to be played in T20 format, before heading to Australia for a three-match ODI series.

India vs. South Africa (Home): 3 ODIs

November-December 2025

India will wrap up the year with a home series against South Africa.

India vs. New Zealand (Home): 3 ODIs

January 2026

India and New Zealand will meet again in ODIs for the first time since their Champions Trophy final in Dubai.

India vs. Afghanistan (Home): 3 ODIs

June 2026

After co-hosting the T20 World Cup with Sri Lanka and completing another IPL season, India will host Afghanistan for their inaugural bilateral ODI series.

India vs. England (Away): 3 ODIs

July 2026

Almost a year after their Test tour, India will return to England for three ODIs and five T20Is.

India vs. West Indies (Home): 3 ODIs

September-October 2026

India will face the West Indies in a home series.

India vs. New Zealand (Away): 3 ODIs

October-December 2026

India will play New Zealand again, this time in an away series.

India vs. Sri Lanka (Home): 3 ODIs

January 2027

India will start the year with a home series against Sri Lanka, aiming to avenge their previous 0-2 defeat in 2024. This series will serve as their final preparation for the World Cup 2027, which is set to take place in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia later in the year.
