ISLAMABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s Home Minister Waqar Noor has accused India of providing shelter, financial support, and training to terrorists in AJK to disrupt peace in the peaceful region.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, the AJK Home Minister said, “We have concrete evidence of the planning behind recent disruptive incidents in Azad Kashmir.”
He said intelligence agencies have exposed a major terrorist network in Azad Kashmir being run with Indian support.
A nefarious plot by miscreant elements to destroy the peace in Azad Kashmir has been unearthed.
“Under the guise of rights, certain miscreant elements are pursuing their malicious agendas in Azad Kashmir,” said the Interior Minister of Azad Kashmir.
He said On October 27, 2024, Constable Sajjad Resham was martyred in a firing incident at the Shujaabad check post.
The minister said following this tragic incident, an investigation was launched, during which some suspicious individuals were identified.
Zarnosh Naseem alias Qasim, Usama alias Muhammad, and Hanzala alias Ulfat emerged as the prime suspects in the case.
He said On March 19, 2025, Saqib Ghani was arrested with heavy weaponry at the Azad Patan entry point. During interrogation, Saqib Ghani confessed to having links with Zarnosh and other miscreants.
The minister said suspects were not only involved in the murder of Sajjad Resham but also attempted to set the City Police Station Bagh on fire.
In addition, the suspects carried out attacks on Islamabad Motorway Police and Sangjani Toll Plaza, according to the minister. Investigations also revealed plans to target sensitive locations.
Usama, upon realising the true objectives of the group, voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement. Based on his information, grenades and pistols were recovered.
During the investigation, the suspects admitted to multiple acts of sabotage in Azad Kashmir. The arrested suspects confessed the full extent of their network in recorded video statements.
Another key figure, Ghazi Shehzad, has escaped from Rawalakot Jail.
His links with hostile intelligence agencies in Afghanistan have been confirmed.
The minister said a terrorist named Abdul Rauf, currently in Afghanistan, is misleading innocent youth in the name of Jihad and Shariah, in collaboration with the TTP. Legal action is underway against those facilitating these subversive activities.
The public is urged to act as responsible citizens, stay vigilant against any disruptive elements, and support law enforcement agencies.
