ISLAMABAD: During the recent military escalation between India and Pakistan, the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) shot down six Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jets over a four-day conflict.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during a visit to the Pakistan Air Force base in Kamra, confirmed that six Indian aircraft were downed by PAF between May 6 and May 10.
PM Sharif said that five of these jets were brought down during retaliatory strikes on the night of May 6 and 7, following Indian air attacks on six locations including Sialkot and Bahawalpur in Punjab, and various parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Mirage-2000 aircraft shot down in Pompore
A Mirage-2000 aircraft of the Indian Air Force was shot down near Pampore in Pulwama district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It was targeted by a PAF J-10C using a PL-15 missile. The pilot, Wing Commander Omanakuttam (Service No. 30384), is in critical condition and is being treated at the 92 Base Hospital in Srinagar.
MiG-29 jet shot down near Ramban
A MiG-29 was downed near Ramban district of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The jet was brought down by a PAF JF-17 Thunder using a PL-15 missile. The pilot, Squadron Leader Keshav Yadav (Service No. 32394), succumbed to his injuries on May 22, 2025, after being admitted to Command Hospital Udhampur.
Su-30MKI jet shot down near Akhnoor
A Su-30MKI aircraft was hit near Akhnoor town of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. It was piloted by Wing Commander Lalit Garg (Service No. 29690) and Flight Lieutenant Mundit Tewari (Service No. 36415). Both pilots survived the incident and are in stable condition at the 170 Military Hospital in Akhnoor. The aircraft was downed by a PAF J-10C using a PL-15 missile.
Rafale EH jet shot down near Bhatinda
A Rafale EH fighter jet was shot down near Bhatinda in Indian Punjab. The pilot, Wing Commander Arun Panwar (Service No. 30217), was critically injured and initially treated at the 174 Military Hospital in Bhatinda before being transferred to Chandimandir Command Hospital due to his critical condition. This jet was also engaged and down by a J-10C using a PL-15 missile.
Rafale EH shot down near Bhatinda
Another Rafale EH, flying north of Bhatinda, was piloted by Wing Commander Manish (Service No. 27976). He is in stable condition and currently under treatment at Chandimandir Command Hospital. This aircraft was also brought down by a J-10C with a PL-15 missile.
Rafale EH shot down by J-10C
A third Rafale EH was also shot down by a J-10C using a PL-15 missile. The aircraft was piloted by Squadron Leader Singh (Service No. 32091). As of now, no information is available regarding his condition.
