ISLAMABAD: India’s propaganda that it can subdue Pakistan using water as a tool of war in the wake of Pahalgam false flag operation has been rendered exposed.
According to sources, India’s propaganda regarding release of excess water in Jehlum River stands exposed.
India duping its own people
According to sources, India will try to follow through on its one-sided announcement of suspension of Indus Waters Treaty (IWT). According to sources, this attempt by India is nothing more than a faux effort to dupe its own people.
India first tried to give an impression of flooding by releasing excess water in River Jehlum, said the sources. Due to this attempt by India, 22,000 cusecs of water crossed Domail, an area of Muzaffarabad (Azad Jammu and Kashmir). Since the one-sided suspension of IWT by India, the matters of western rivers are being looked after by the Ministry of Water Resources and the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) of Pakistan.
According to sources, India does not have the capability to stop the flow of rivers or change their direction.
Pakistan faces no imminent threat
At the moment, India has the capacity to store just 0.624 million acres feet of water in the western rivers. On the other hand, just in Mangla reservoir of Pakistan, there is a capacity of 7.35 million acres, according to sources. Hence, regarding the supply of water, there is no significant or permanent hurdle that is expected.
All these efforts on the part of India are basically an attempt to shape a narrative.
According to sources, Pakistan’s Ministry of Water Resources and Wapda are continuously monitoring the situation and are issuing timely updates.
Experts are of the view that at this moment, apropos water security, Pakistan faces no imminent threat.
In the context of climate change, the experts emphasise, construction of new and large water reservoirs is indispensable.
