ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Saturday said that India had deprived Kashmiris of every right, including freedom of speech and the right to carry out political activities in the illegally-occupied Indian Jammu and Kashmir.
The APHC leadership in Srinagar said that the Modi-led Indian regime had silenced the media and prevented Kashmiris from gathering and speaking their minds. At the same time, journalists face random harassment.
The leadership said that the people of the internationally recognized disputed area of Jammu and Kashmir are being forced to accept the Hindutva agendas and narratives of the BJP-led Indian government and Hindu extremist groups like Rashtriya Bajrang Dal, Sangh, and VHP.
The statement made clear that the Modi government was utilizing its armed forces, police, and investigative organizations like the State Investigation Agency (SIA) and National Investigation Agency (NIA) to pressure the people of Kashmir to accept Hindutva principles.
The APHC leadership emphasized that Modi must keep in mind that bullets and firearms had never been able to crush people’s aspirations while pleading with the world to intervene to save the Kashmiris from the Hindutva fascism being imposed on them by the BJP dictatorship.
The leadership further stated that torture, arrests, or executions would not be able to crush the Kashmiris’ spirit of independence. The APHC emphasized that the residents of the occupied territory were prepared to make all sacrifices necessary to protect their right to self-determination and that they were steadfastly committed to continuing their fight against Indian occupation despite all obstacles.
The APHC leadership urged the world to come forward to save the Kashmiri from Hindutva fascism being thrust on them by the Modi regime.
Meanwhile, other Hurriyet organizations and leaders, including Jammu and Kashmir Awami Party’s jailed chairman, Noor Fayaz; Jammu and Kashmir United Peace Alliance Chairman, Shahid Saleem; Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement leader Dr. Musaib, Jammu Kashmir Democratic Youth Forum Chairman Mohammad Huzaif; Jammu Kashmir Democratic Movement Chairman Prof Zubair, Jammu Kashmir Peoples Association Chairman, Aqib Muhammad, Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum Chairman, Prof Tauqeer Ahmed, Jammu, and Kashmir Pir Panchal Freedom Movement Chairman Asrar Ahmed in their separate statements demanded an independent investigation into human rights violations in the region.
In addition, the statements voiced grave concern for the treatment of political prisoners held in various Indian and IIOJK jails and called for their immediate release. The Hurriyat leaders also highlighted that despite all obstacles, Kashmiris remained firmly committed to continuing their political struggle for their legitimate demand for self-determination. —APP
