ISLAMABAD: On the occasion of the International Day of Non-Violence, a global observance promoting peace and non-violent resolutions, attention is drawn to the ongoing crisis in the Indian-occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir, where reports persist of Indian troops engaging in war crimes.
Kashmir Media Service highlights that for the Kashmiri population, the significance of the International Day of Non-Violence is diminished by the prevailing state terrorism and blatant human rights abuses perpetrated by the Indian forces in the region. The people of Jammu and Kashmir endure the harsh realities of a violent Indian military and political occupation, making the observance of non-violence a paradox in their lives.
A recently released report by the Kashmir Media Service has shed light on the dire situation. It exposes the consistent harassment and brutalities inflicted upon the people of IIOJK by the ruthless Indian troops, paramilitary forces, police, NIA, and SIA, who continue to subject the defenseless Kashmiri population to relentless suffering. The report underscores that the draconian black laws have exacerbated the plight of the residents, as they have endured decades of oppression.

The report laments the tragic loss of 13 innocent Kashmiris to Indian bullets in the preceding month of September, adding to a grim total of 96,246 lives lost since January 1989 in the occupied territory. These stark figures emphasize the gravity of the situation and necessitate urgent international attention.
In line with international law, the actions of the Indian authorities in the occupied territory can aptly be categorized as genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. As the world observes the International Day of Non-Violence, it is essential to direct censure towards India for its ongoing persecution of the Kashmiris through the actions of its brutal forces.
The report fervently urges the international community to take a stand and pressure the Indian government, particularly its Hindutva regime, to cease the gross violations of human rights and breaches of international laws occurring in IIOJK. It calls for collective efforts to curb the perpetuation of violence and injustice in the region, reaffirming the principles of non-violence and peace that the International Day of Non-Violence seeks to promote globally.
